HP FC1142SR not recognised

I installed the HBA FC1142SR in a WS HP Z400 in order to realise Fiber optic LAN among several WS's by a netgear optical switch. I'm not interested in the SAN specificities, i just want to use the HBA as a network interface as a conventional ethernet interface but optical. The WS's operate under linux redHat enterpise 5.0 server. I installed the very last driver applicable to the HBA under this SO.
The point is that the card is not recognised at all. The three leds on the card are flashing simultaneously all the time.

Is there any HW incompatibility ?

Have you ever had such experience ? How to realize if the HBA is working or not ?

Thanks

Re: HP FC1142SR not recognised

HW compatibility with the Z400 or not...
this will not work.

The FC1142SR is a Fibre Channel adapter and uses FC-1 layer encoding with is not compatible with GigaBit Ethernet encoding.
