HP MPIO & EMC PowerPath co-existence

Can someone confirm for me whether or not a host can have both HP's MPIO and EMC's PowerPath software on the same host?

We are trying to migrate the storage on a Windows Exchange server from a Clariion over to our new EVA 8100.

I've found interoperability info for HP arrays but nothing for storage from two different vendors. Thanks.

Generally, only 1 multipath version is supported. Power path is fairly particular and its documentation should say if other vendor multipath software is compatible with EMC/s pp.
The other issue would be the HBA driver stack compatiblility.
Your asking for trouble.

Kevin,
What was your solution, if any, to this issue? We are running into the same configuration.
Thanks,
Jeff

A safe way would be to zone each HBA to one storage system and effect the migration that way.

Re: HP MPIO & EMC PowerPath co-existence

Thanks for the reply. We have an exchange server with 2 HBA's running powerpath on an EMC Clariion. We need to connect the server to our new EVA and will then do host based migration. We know PP won't work on the EVA and will use MPIO but there will be a time when both are connected. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Jeff
