HP P2000 G3 10GbE iSCSI MSA - need info
I have a HP DL380 G8 attached to a HP P2000 G3 10GbE iSCSI MSA Controller.
We want to know if the MSA will support iSCSI connection to a Windows 2012 R2 or 2016 Server? I am having a hard time getting exact info, as I can not find T250P01-01 in here: https://h20272.www2.hpe.com/SPOCK/
Can someone post the link where I can find this info?
DETAILS:
CPLD Version 22
Storage Controller Code Version T250P01-01
Model P2000 G3 iSCSI
Storage Controller CPU Type Intel Tolapai
Part Number AW595B
Hardware Version 53
Revision G

Re: HP P2000 G3 10GbE iSCSI MSA - need info
Hello,
The TS250 firmware is not a supported firmware version. If you check SPOCK for compatability with the P2000 it does list TS251P001, TS252R007, and TS252P005 for use with Windows 2008. Since the P2000 is an EOL product, the array has not been tested with newer versions of host OS.
This means we (as an HPE employee) cannot state or recommend configurations that have not been tested or verified within HPE.
Cheers,
Shawn

Re: HP P2000 G3 10GbE iSCSI MSA - need info
Thank you, this helped.
Accordng to https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_89ecaf1f05e94eb0a1d614d7e8
2012R2 is supported on the MSA P2000 G3 with the TS252P005 version of the firmware. But now I have two questions.
1. I can't download the firmware, as HPE is telling me I need a current support contract? This equipment is EOL so how would I have a current support contract? Is there another way to get this firmware?
2. Do I need to upgrade the firmware on the disks too? I have upto 50 disks in 6 shelves, most are SEAGATE ST3000NM0023 with a range of Revisions from 0003, E002, E001, 0004, to
SEAGATE ST4000NM0034 also
SEAGATE ST4000NM0125
Thanks.

Re: HP P2000 G3 10GbE iSCSI MSA - need info
Hello,
Even though the array is EOL it is not End of Support. A valid warranty contract is needed to link your product to the contract in order to download firmware. You can find more details at the following link.
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c05351364
MSA Array firmware can be found here, but does require the entitlement process in order to download.
https://h41111.www4.hpe.com/storage/msafirmware.html
The latest MSA Drive firmware versions can be found at the following link.
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04315770&lang=en-us&cc=us
[Moderator edit: Fixed the broken link.]
You should upgrade the drives since having a mixed drive firmware version in the same vdisk can cause possible performance issues.
Cheers,
Shawn
