HP P2000 G3 iSCSI controller upgrade procedure from 1Gb to 10Gb

Hello,

My customer has an HP P2000 G3 SFF with dual controllers iSCSI 1GB and we need to upgrade it to iSCSI 10Gb:

We have ordered two 10Gb replacement controllers and we need the procedure to do such upgrade and if it can be done online or offline? and without loosing the data. Currently, we have two 1Gb iSCSI switches where each P2000 controller is connected to both switches (with MPIO).

Kindly advise and best regards.

As per my understanding this will be offline activity. Not aware of any such guide where you can get details but some of the steps I can think of,

1> Backup data, Capture MSA log and Shutdown both 1GbE controller

2> Remove and replace both controllers with 10GbE

3> Re-enter system settings

4> Assign or rename port IQN host nicknames, if applicable

5> Re-enter Explicit Volume Mappings

6> Re-enter user information

7> Re-enter services information

8> Re-establish iSCSI connectivity and configure MPIO

Note: You need to use 10GbE HBA at the Server end as well as 10GbE supported Switch. The P2000 G3 10 GbE iSCSI MSA supports fiber optic cables with Short Range (SR) and Long Range Multi-mode (LRM) SFP+ transceivers

Hope this helps!
