HP SAN MSA 2040

Hello,

We intend to purchase HP MSA 2040 1Gb iSCSI 6x600 Bundle  together with two HP DL360 Gen9 E5-2630v3 (2.4GHz, 8C) servers. The drives in the HP SAN are  2 x 400GB SSD in RAID1 + 3 x 600GB SAS in RAID5 for the performance disk and 3 x 600GB SAS in RAID5 + 3 x 1TB Midline SAS in RAID 5 for the archiving disk.

Do we need  also an iSCSI between the HP SAN and the HP server or can the HP SAN connect directly with the HP server?

Thank you,

Sam

Re: HP SAN MSA 2040

If you meant to ask that would you need an IP Switch in between then answer is No for 2 Servers as you can directly connect 2 Servers to HP MSA2040 and connect the iSCSI initiators to Controller iSCSI Ports.

In future, if you decide to scale up and add more servers then yes, you will need an IP Switch in between so that you can take benefit of MSA2040 SAN Controller.
