HPE P2000 G3 ISCSI

hi,

I have an issue with my HP P2000 G3 the device has 4 ISCSi port and 2 controllers, when I try to ping the IP of the controller A or B it's not replaying even when I am directly connected to the controller management port.

I have console access and I can see the IP address configured properly but still cannot ping them

any idea ??

Hello Mustafa,

It sounds as if your controllers are fine but you are instead having a network issue. Since you have console access you might want to try the following.

1. Can you ping one controller MC IP address from the other controller?

2. Is the gateway address on the controllers correct and pingable?

3. Can you ping the switch or an outside address from the controller?

4. Are the LEDs on the controller host ports actively blinking green?

If all of these steps are not working correctly you need to investigate your network.

Cheers,
Shawn

Re: HP P 2000 G3 ISCSI

hi Shawn,

please check the below comments based on your points,

1. Can you ping one controller MC IP address from the other controller? no

2. Is the gateway address on the controllers correct and pingable? it is correct

3. Can you ping the switch or an outside address from the controller?no ping to the outside network (I have a laptop connected directly to the controller and still no ping on both)

4. Are the LEDs on the controller host ports actively blinking green? LEDs are blinking and all is green

I noticed the console CLI is very slow responding, the speed and other parameters for the session are correct.

also, is the command restart MC a/b safe on the live data traffic ?? no risk to do it ??

Solution

Re: HP P 2000 G3 ISCSI

You can try restarting both management controllers by below command,

restart mc both

Please note there is no impact to production as you are just restarting management controllers and not Storage controllers.

You can also check provide us below output,

show protocols

Hope this helps!
