How does a SAN appear on a Windows server?

Hi folks, I am looking to get a HP SAN but would like to know how it appears when attached to a Windows 2003 server, ie a local disk?

Thanks.

Re: How does a SAN appear on a Windows server?

Hi

We use EVA's and the LUNS (the san discs) will appear as (under Disk Management MMC snapin) as a Basic disc of whatever size you requested.

You can right click (properties) on each disc and find the LUN number etc to trace back, or use the MPIO snapin (just above the disk management one) called HP DSM MPIO Manager to see individual paths and drive letters etc
