The MSA1000 is a Fibre Channel storage array, so yes, you need a Fibre Channel adapter in each of your servers.

Why is it required? Because you need a device that 'knows' how to operate on a Fibre Channel network. It is similar to a NIC (network interface card) that knows how to operate on an Ethernet, just that you have different protocols.
