Identify P2000 LUN in Windows Server 2008 R2

Hello,

I have a P2000 connected to two Windows Server 2008 R2 via FibreChannel with a FibreChannel Switch.

The luns of the P2000 are Multipathed via Windows MPIO.

I need to delete one lun and create three new out of the claimed space.

The problem is that I can not identify which luns is representing which disk in Windows.

I do not want to risk to delete the wrong lun on the P2000.

Is there a GUID I can compare on both sides (P2000 and Windows)?

How can I identify which lun represents which disk?

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,

Matthias

Hi,

are the disks the exact same size?

If your server with the important lun can survive without it for a little while you could to unpresent the vdisk.

Perhaps the FC HBA's utility can show more information about the LUNs it sees - like QLogic's SANSurfer.

Thank you for your reply, Johan.

I got it.

I did not find the WWN in Windows.

I tried it with diskpart uniqueid but what I got was not the WWN of the LUN on the P2000.

I now compare the LUN number in the P2000 mapping with the LUN number in Windows Disk Management.
