Re: MSA 1500 and Windows 2008 with Failover Clustering
Not sure, but I am leaning towards it not being compatible. For the last 3 days I have been attempting to get my MSA1500 to run on 2 servers with identical hardware, I went as far as updating the firmware on both servers, and Windows 2008 R2 unsuccessfully. The Cluster Validation Wizard is run, all test pass except the following:
Validate Disk Arbitration Canceled
Validate that a node that owns a disk retains
ownership after disk arbitration.
Validate Disk Failover Canceled
Validate that a disk can fail over successfully with
data intact.
Validate File System Canceled
Validate that the file system on disks in shared
storage is supported by failover clusters.
Validate Multiple Arbitration Canceled
Validate that in a multiple-node arbitration process,
only one node obtains control.
Validate SCSI device Vital SCSI device Vital Product Data (VPD) Warning
SCSI page 83h VPD descriptors for the same cluster
disk 0 from different nodes do not match. SCSI
inquiry data is identifier information returned by
the storage device about a specific LUN. The cluster
expects that if a disk is shared the SCSI inquiry
data should be unique for each disk and consistent
across all the nodes for a given LUN. This condition
may be expected if you are using replicated storage.
Please contact your storage vendor for further
information.
Validate SCSI-3 Persistent Reservation Failed
Successfully accessed cluster disk 0 from node
fourier.dyn.datasys.swri.edu while it should have failed.
Cluster Disk 0 does not support Persistent Reservations.
Some storage devices require specific firmware versions
or settings to function properly with failover clusters.
Please contact your storage administrator or storage
vendor to check the configuration of the storage to allow
it to function properly with failover clusters.
Validate Simultaneous Failover Canceled
Validate that disks can fail over simultaneously with
data intact.
I simply want to know if it is support or not, so I can stop wasting my time and install Windows 2003 Enterprise on the servers. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Re: MSA 1500 and Windows 2008 with Failover Clustering
MSA 1500 will work with Windows 2008 cluster
I had tested the same
U have to make the system in active-active mode
upgrade the firmware to V7.1
and non of the multipatchin software will work for Win 2008 and MSA 1500
U have to make 1:1 connection for individual server, cluster validation will be success after that

Re: MSA 1500 and Windows 2008 with Failover Clustering
Don't confuse Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 r2. Windows 2008r2 is not supported on the MSA1500.
