Hi, community,
I am considering getting the following new drives N9X96A 4pcs and Q1H47A 8pcs for the existing MSA 2040, but the customer has concerns about the compatibility of those drives with firmware GL220P009. Any issues that may arise with running those drives on that particular firmware release?

Re: MSA 2040 Compatibility issues with firmware GL220P009
First of all GL220P009 itself is inactive firmware so any unpredictable behavior possible. You need to first update that to latest version GL225P002-02

I am not sure what model of drive that you have received but you need to make sure updating MSA firmware along with drive firmware which will make more stable system.
Hope this helps!

@SUBHAJIT KHANBARMAN_1
Thank you for the detailed answer!
Correct me if I am wrong, I have to upgrade the MSA firmware first, then upgrade installed drives before installing the new drives?

SolutionYes your understanding is correct.
Also please remember after you update MSA controller firmware if you have additional drive enclosure then you need to update IO module firmware as well.
Then you can add new drives as well. After that you can update all drive firmware together.
IO module firmware and drive firmware both are offline update.
Hope this helps!
