MSA 2040 w/ SAS Controllers - 2x - Aggregate somehow?

Hello,

Fairly new to MSA products and looked at the documentation but did not see in the documentation if this was possible.  I inherited two MSA 2040 with Dual SAS/Mini-SAS connections. At one point, each MSA was connected to two ESXi hosts each.  Now that I've moved the production to a Nimble, I'd like to repurpose this hardware for other use.

  • Is it possible to connect both MSA 2040 together and aggregate their storage as if one of them is an extra shelf?
  • Can 2 of the 4 controllers be swapped out with the FoCE/SAN controllers and use these two connections to make it available over the network? While the two remaining SAS controllers can be used to connect the two MSA 2040s together?

I know the two can be set up so that they can replicate to each other w/ an additional license, but it's not something i'm interested in.

Thanks in advance!
