MSA 2050 Delete a Diskgroup and add some disk to another port group instead
Hi
I have a MSA 2050 .i have 3 disk group on it
- 10* 1.2 10K with 2*400 ssd cache on Controller A as A1
- 7* 1.2 10K as B1 with 2*400 ssd cache and 3*2TB as B2 on Controller B
3*2TB create a volume that used befor to host ESXI 6.7 VMs. 3 month ago I unmount this lun from my hosts. Now I want to replace these disks with 1.2 10K disks and add them to B2 disk group. this group capacity shows 500 GB data exisxts on them.
what is the safest method to do it?
Thank you in advance

Re: MSA 2050 Delete a Diskgroup and add some disk to another port group instead
As your requirement is to delete VDG named B2 which is part of Pool B so we will not take consideration Pool A
You need to check space availability or free space of VDG named B1. We know that it's created with 7*1.2TB drives which means approx size 8.4TB but we don't know how much is free.
Our requirement is 500GB production data which need to move from B2 to B1.
Yes this is possible if B1 having sufficient freespace then when you delete B2 that time volume data will drain or move from B2 to B1 automatically.
Hope this helps!
