MSA 2052 Upgrade from SSD Cache to Performance Tier
Hi all,
I have MSA2052 and on Pool A I have one disk group with SAS 10 K drives and two SAS SSDs as Read Cache.
Now I buy 4 more SSDs and I want to build performance tier.
Because this MSA is already in production environment and I don't have different array to move all data from MSA.
So, I want to be sure everything will go according a plan.
Step one: Install license from https://myenterpriselicense.hpe.com/
Step two: Remove disk group with Read-Cache SSDs
Step three: Create new disk group RAID 5 from five SSDs and sixth use as global spare.
I am not sure about removing disk group with SSDs. Is there any danger of data loss?
I would like to hear from you some guideline or where can be problems.
And if it’s possible to do it when all servers will use the MSA without interruption.
Of course, I will have a backup.
Thank you.
Regards,
David.

Re: MSA 2052 Upgrade from SSD Cache to Performance Tier
Plan looks absolutely fine.
The ADS Suite license key ships standard with the MSA 2052 and must be redeemed and installed to enable the services.
No risk in your production data or production at the time of deletion of Read Cache VDG.
Hope this helps!
