MSA 2312FC Email notification not working

I cannot get the email notifications from the controllers to work.

I can ping the SMTP server (Exchange) ok from the controller but when I run "TEST EMAIL" from the command shell I get the following error
"Error: Command Failed. Unknown error code (-1) (emailaddress) - Failed to send email."

The address I am sending it to is a fully active address (It's my corporate email address) but due to the lack of anything other than PING i cannot test connectivity any further.

the email never reaches the SMTP server and this server is on a VLAN that has full access as I have tested from other machines on teh vlan and email works fine.

HELP !!

What about smtp-authorization on your exchange? Can you give your msa's ip address to a PC with outlook (or any other mail client) installed and try to send email from it?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, but I have since found an article on HP's site that says, this does not work at the moment. They will fix the issue in a future firmware release.

Same problem here. It does not work.

SNMP does also not give any information about the physical disks the MSA has.

HP SIM does not support the hardware, as it gathers not much information.

Can you please give me a reference of the page you read that the e-mail function does not work?

I have got the same problem. Is there any update which will fix the problem?

How is your 'sender' address written?

It will NOT work if it contains the '@' symbol.
(Only use the part that beling before the symbol. )

I have used the sender name without @ and I am still getting the same error

Wow... I just spent 2-3 hours troubleshooting this on a P2000 G3 MSA at a customer site. Finally removed the @domain.com portion of the email address from the "Sender Name" field after reading this thread, and it started working...

I believe the other issue mentioned is related to the P2000 G3, not the MSA 2312FC. That issue is related to fields being more than 31 characters. Here's the advisory:
