MSA 50 and DL 385 connection
Hello experts,
A small question regarding MSA and DL connectivity..
I have a new DL 385 server which needs to be connected to MSA 50. There is a problem with the connector, the vendor forgotten to order the controller for connecting MSA to the server.
The question, can I install / commissioning the DL server and later connected the MSA without scratching the server from zero again? (for RAID configuration and new logical disk detection)..
If it is possible to do so, any advice or information on how to perform it safely? =D
Thank you very much in advance..
Best regards,
Monique

Re: MSA 50 and DL 385 connection
You can build the server using the internal drives first, and at anytime later add the array controller to the server (if needed) and connect the MSA50, and then launch the array controller utility to create additional disk space for the server.
The ACU is a separate software package.
Adding this hardware will require downtime to be on the safe side.

Re: MSA 50 and DL 385 connection
Hello James,
Thank you for you reply.
One more question. If the MSA has been connected, can I extend one of the drive with this new MSA? e.g. drive D (internal disk) 72 GB and would like to be extended to 300 GB, is this possible?
Thank you,
Monique
