MSA1000, FC2101, WIN23K NMI Blue Screens

I have an MSA1000 with Dual Controllers and two MSCS. The first MSCS is windows 2000 SP4 and is running normally. The second is a windows 2003 cluster SP1. All four servers have two FC2101 HBAs each, running SecurePath. About every 4 - 6 hours the active Windows 2003 node blue screens with a NMI error on the active HBA. All cluster resources fail over successfully so there is little distruption. The node that blue screens then ASRs. As metioned earlier the windows 2000 cluster continues to function normally. Also, we have one of the early Compaq branded MSA1000 with the embedded 6port Gadzooks switch rather than the later 2/8 embedded.

Details..
MSA fimware 4.48
FC2101 Scsi min port driver 5.5.20.9
SecurePath agent 4.0b on Win2k and 4.0c on win23k.

It makes no differnce with Path I am using or which node is active, the blue screen still occurs on both nodes, all be it at different times. The servers are new builds and have been bluescreening since built.

Also I have been unable to find the drivers for the 6port switches... could this be the cause of the problem?

James:

You should not need drivers for the 6port switch. The servers should not see it as a device.

First thing I would do is see if HP has a swap program to get you 2 new MSA 2/8 switches.

Perhaps the 6port needs a firmware update. Not sure if available anymore or even what the latest is. The firmware used to be on the MSA Support CD, but not sure if there anymore.

Re: MSA1000, FC2101, WIN23K NMI Blue Screens

Steven,

I now from a functionality perspective, I don't need the drivers by Windows whinges not having the drivers.. very enoying... I would swap the switches if I could but at the mo I can't see my boss signing it of.

I have now applied the correct HBA driver from the current MSA support CD v6.51.02 which is 5_5.10a9. I will see how this goes.

Okay, I have applied the correct driver as started on the latest MSA1000 support CD, and still blue screening. Anyone got any suggestions?

Just my 2p worth. Don't know if it'll make a difference, but have you got the latest Secure Path 4.0c SP2?
