MSA1000 Raidsets - Partitions

We got a new msa1000 Storage and we want to configure RAID5 Arrays. Now my question is: Is it possible to make several partitions on a w2k server within one raidset (array)?

Re: MSA1000 Raidsets - Partitions

Hi Reinhard,

yes you can. It can be done in a couple of ways. When you create the array in ACU, you can create several logical drives in this array. Normally when you create it the default size is the maximum possible. Just reduce this to the size you want, the rest you can use to create further logical drives. Windows will see each of these logical drives as a physical disk, which you can partition and format as normal.
You can also create one large logical drive, and use Windows to create several partitions, just like on a normal Hard disk.
