MSA1000+msa30 - can't see 7 drives in msa30

I had msa1000 and 14x300 Gb drives for it. Somr days ago we by msa30 and 14x300 Gb drives for it. Then i open box with msa30 i can't find cable for connection between msa100 and msa30, is it normal? Ok i take another cable from another device , but with same connectors, and use it for connection between msa1000 and msa30. Then i power on all my msa, i see that msa1000 see only 7 drives - from 7 to 14. I tried connect cable to another controller on msa30 and i cant see any drives on msa30.
Do any have any ideas?

The MSA1000 should have come with two cables...

It sounds like the I/O module in your MSA30 has two VHDCI connectors. In that case it is the dual-bus model (MSA30 DB) and you must connect both busses from the MSA30 to the MSA1000. Or swap the dual-bus module against a single-bus one.

(There is no 'controller' inside the MSA30)

Re: MSA1000+msa30 - can't see 7 drives in msa30

We try connect one SCSI cable with different position:
MSA30 - B, MSA1000 - B - result is - we see only one HDD (14).
MSA30 - B, MSA1000 - ├Р - result is - we don't see any HDD drives in MSA30
MSA30 - ├Р , MSA1000 - ├Р - result is - we don't see any HDD drives in MSA30
MSA30 - ├Р , MSA1000 - B - result is - we see only 7 HDD drives from 7 to 14

By this results, can i told that controller A in MSA1000 is not workable? Is it truth that i must have 2 cables with MSA1000? Can some body confirm this?

sory, different code page, again same message -

MSA30 - A, MSA1000 - A - result is - we don't see any HDD drives in MSA30

Re: MSA1000+msa30 - can't see 7 drives in msa30

The MSA1000 has 4 SCSI busses:
- the first two make up bay1..7 and bay 8..14 of the MSA1000 box.
- the remaining two are for external connections.

Both MSA1000 controller modules have connectivity to all 4 SCSI busses - otherwise a controller failover would not be possible.

From your description (no disk drives visible on port A), it looks like a hardware defect on the MSA1000 I/O module.

We have only one module on the bottom of MSA1000. In this module we have two scsi ports A and B.

How we can verify problem with defect port A?

Re: MSA1000+msa30 - can't see 7 drives in msa30

The fact that you saw 1 disk leads me to wonder if you have tried connecting the MSA30 to another standalone host? Also, one of your cables could also be Bad or is a non HP cable. cables can be very tempermental.
