MSA1000 with redundant HBAs in RedHat AS 3

I have to configure a ProLiant DL380 G4 with 2 HBAs connected to a MSA1000 with 2 fiber switches, using SecurePath.

I've configured the volumes and zones in the MSA1000, but before installing SecurePath in the DL380 with RedHat AS 3 Update 4, the operative system only see the volumes by 1 path. I've connected the DL380 with the 2 switches in MSA1000, but only seems to work the first connection, because if I remove the second fiber the system doesn't fail, but if I remove the first fiber, the system fail and I can't access the volumes through any path...

I've installed a similar configuration with Windows 2003 and before installing SeurePath the system detected 2 volumes for each volume configured.

What could be the error?

Thanks.

The MSA1000 and 1500 controllers are passive failover devices. You will only see the units on one path. Secure path allows the redundant path access when there is a failure of the primary controller. We only found this out (given bad info from a vendor) after we installed RH on our MSA1500's and couldn't see the devices on both paths.

That does not sound right, sorry. Are you sure your SSP is correct? On the MSA1000, I *have* seen LUNs presented from the standby controller. Else, Secure Path would not know about the standby path.

I've made some changes on QLA2300 drivers and now the system can access to both paths. But now I've another problem, because if after installing SecurePath the system hangs.

SercurePath may not be supported with Update4 yet. Check with HP support.

I've just fixed this error. Secure Path 3.0c Service Pack 1 is needed in RedHat AS 3 Update 4.
