MSA1500 + MSA20 which especial block devices use?

I've made an array A, with 1 logical drive RAID5.
Getting the status message:
"Background parity initialization is currently queued or in progres on logical drive 1 (RAID 5 in array A).If background parity initialization is queued, it will start when I/O i sperformed on the drive. When background parity initialization completes, the performance of the logical drive will improve"
1 week later, the status message continues.

I'm trying to make partitions, but I dont know which especial block device to use.
I'm using RedHat Enterprise Linux 3.

Anyone could help me?
Should I wait for finishing background parity initialization?
