MSA2000 single controller setup?

Is it justifiable to buy a MSA2000 SAN with just one controller as mentioned as a possibility in marketing material?

We are not a bank and can live with downtime of 1/2 day etc. But data loss is not ok.

Thanx for any advice, documents, links etc.

Yes it is. But even with two controllers it is not a good idea to do NO backups.

we do daily backups, but we need a solution that does not require restore from backup if the hardware fails. Its ok to have some downtime to replace a broken controller, but no data loss is accepted. What do I really get with 2 vs. 1 controller?

Sure it is a great idea if your looking to save money and can afford the downtime and you are routinely doing your backups.

The Dual Controllers/Dual Paths will help with redundancy and will keep your systems up if you have a single point of failure but that wont help if 2 disks fail in a Raid5 Vdisk.
