MSA2000sa one server/one HBA/dual path Performance benefits?

As per the MSA2000sa cable configuration document one server/one HBA/dual path configuration is supported but is there any performance benefit to this configuration. I have a customer that has single path configuration from the server currently and they want to know if simply purchasing an extra mini SAS cable and connecting from the 2nd port on the HBA to the 2nd port on the single controller MSA will give them a boost in performance with the idea that each HBA port will be presented with volumes on different vdisks. Redundancy is not a concern.
