MSA2040 Virtual Storage Pools A&B - explanation needed

 Hi all,

I would like to ask about how the virtual storage pools work. According to the best practice, you should balance your performance and storage space between both pools - but why?

Does it mean that Virtual Storage Pool A is mainly operated by storage controller A and Virtual Storage Pool B is mainly operated by storage controller B?

Right now we are in the middle of discussions regarding proper setting of our MSA 2040 + D2700 shelf => 49 10k 900GB SAS disks.

Thanks for answers.

Re: MSA2040 Virtual Storage Pools A&B - explanation needed

Yes the Pool A is owned by Controller A and Pool B by Controller B.

If one Controller fails, the other takes the Pool and handle both Pools.

So best is to have 2 Pools.
