MSA2040 updating disk drive
hi
is it possible to update just one drive on MSA2040
from SMU it is possible to choose one drive but I
can not find the FLA file for the latest version
the drive is model EG001200JWJNQ and the version is HPD3
Only smart component can be downloaded and that goes to all disks
as this is an offlne upgrade I only want to upgrade the spare disk

Re: MSA2040 updating disk drive
HPE's planning is to discontinue the FLA files and only support the smart components for safety reasons.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: MSA2040 updating disk drive
You can try downloading the smart component firmware file named cp041942.exe and extract it with the help of some unzip software like 7zip and you should get file called SSKYBT512ND3.rel.fw. This is the firmware file so you can try with this file.
Hope this helps!

Re: MSA2040 updating disk drive
Did you use the file "SSKYBT512ND3.rel.fw" as said above?
Use this link to get the correct firmware:

Hope this helps!

Re: MSA2040 updating disk drive
I understand this is Spare disk and not part of any vdisk or disk group.
Please check if disk scrub enabled in this MSA which is to check drives which are not part of vdisk or disk group. If not then please enable disk scrub option.
You should look for any hardware issue with this drive. If so then replace it.
If there is no hardware issue with the drive then firmware update shouldn't have any problem.
Any drive firmware update is offline activity so whether to update with particular firmware file or with smart component the impact should be same.
Hope this helps!
