MSA30 for 2-node Clustering

Hi,

I have two HP Proliant servers which I would to do clustering with shared disk on MSA30.

I came to know from this forum, that MSA30 does not support clustering ( for shared disk ), what other options do I have?

I would not want to buy a new HP storage that supports clustering.

Please help.

Thanks

Re: MSA30 for 2-node Clustering

There are 3 different I/O modules for the MSA30.

SB - single bus (1 server only)
DB - dual bus (1 server only)

MI - multi initiator (2 servers - hp-ux only!)

So you cannot share the MSA30 between 3 proliants, you need another storage.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Hi Torsten,

Do you have a link from HP which can justify your solution?

Thanks..

Re: MSA30 for 2-node Clustering

In fact this is not a solution for you, sorry.

The msa30 is just a JBOD, proliant server need to connect using a smartarray controller - hp-ux server can also use "normal" SCSI controllers.

Since you cannot share disks between array controllers, you cannot share the jbod.

See also the manuals on

and the quickspecs.

Hope this helps!
