Migrating from MSA2050 to MSA2060

Hi,

We have a msa2050 we got last year and it's fully populated with SSDs. It's seems we are unable to get expansion chasis for the msa205 and we have to get a msa2060 to keep growing. Is it possible to migrate the SSDs we are using on our msa2050 to a new msa2060 or is there a new caddie restricted or similar in the new generation?

Regards

@dacrypt

As per MSA 2060 Quickspec it says below details,

https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname=a00094629enw&# (Page no 17)

• MSA Gen 6 HDDs and SSDs are for use with MSA Gen 6 Storage Systems only.
• MSA Gen 6 HDDs and SSDs are not compatible with prior generation MSA Storage Systems
Prior Generation of MSA HDDs and SSDs are not compatible with MSA Gen 6 Storage Systems.

>> It means SSDs which are in use with MSA 2050 can't be use in MSA 2060.

>> There is no option to migrate from MSA 2050 to MSA2060. However you can migrate at the application or host operating system level. For example, in case of ESX you can use vmotion.

Hope this helps!

I can see MSA2050 LFF and SFF enclosures, did you mean you have already connected maximum number of enclosures with MSA2050 Storage Array ?

Please refer MSA2050 quickspecs:

Gen6 Hdd/SSDs are totally different then prior generation, hence you can not migrate your MSA2050 SSD to MSA2060 Storage Array.
