Thanks Kipp.

Why is claiming your storage device (to access the downloads) the most difficult task... in the world?

Not helpful.

Easier to traverse the north pole than accessing MSA firmware.

Re: New MSA 2050/2052/1050 Controller Firmware

Hello Kipp,

Quick question:

Our MSA204 is running controller firmware version GL210R004. In the release notes for the latest firmware it says "If upgrading from a version of firmware that is more than two major firmware versions back, it will require a multiple step process to get to the latest firmware version. Firmware should only be upgraded from the last two major firmware releases."

What would be best practices for me to update my MSA2040 to the latest firmware release?

Thanks

Hi Copperplated,

To upgrade your MSA2040 from GL210R004 I suugest youupgrade to GL220P010 first and then go to GL225P002-02. Be sure to follow best practices where you take a full backup of your data and perform the upgrade during a period of low host I/O. To optimize your system be sure to check whether your hard drives also need to be upgraded. You can use the following site for quick reference of drive firmware: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04315770&lang=en-us&cc=us

Shawn
