P2000 G3 SAS vdisk scrubbing

Hey,

We have 3 p2000 arrays in our environment. I have noticed all of them are in constant cycle of scrubbing the vdisks.

Is this normal, or indicative of an issue?

Re: P2000 G3 SAS vdisk scrubbing

hi

it's best to disable scrubing because it can take a long time depending on the size and type of disks.

this is loading your system.

We've had these arrays in the environment for a long time and they have always behaved like this,

Whats the purpose of the scrubbing ? Is it indicative of some sort of issue?

Re: P2000 G3 SAS vdisk scrubbing

You will only notice if a Sector is not readable if you do a read on the Sector. If you have Data on the Disk that are not touched, it can be that this Data is not readable and you did not notice. Scrub do a cycle read on all the Sectors to check if the Data are readable anymore. If a Sector is damaged, it is marked, the Data is moved (if possible) and you will be notified.
