P2000 G3 with Additional D2600 Trays - Upgrade Frimware via SMU

Hi Chaps,

we have recently added another D2600 (our 4th) to our P2000 Storage array (4 P2000 trays also).

The new D2600 enclousure has older firmware than the other D2600's and i'd like to upgrade this one to match.  What i'd like to do is just upgrade this one via the P2000's SMU.

I have downloaded the relevant firmware file, an exe and extracted the files, problem is the SMU doesn't tell me what file i need to install.

HP recommend i just run the exe with the controller ip, but this will touch all the trays including the P2000 trays which is an approach i'm not keen on, as its hard to get a maintence window for the entire array.

Anyone done this or have any suggestions on how i can achieve it?

Thanks,

extract the *.exe file and use the firmware file with SMU or FTP.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Torsten,

Do you know what the actual firmware file is, i extract the exe and 20 files come out.

I'm thinking the .PMC file looks the most likely, but don't want to guess at this..

Re: P2000 G3 with Additional D2600 Trays - Upgrade Frimware via SMU

Found this thread again and an older release note:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/pubsw-linux/p1953876138/v61764/504224-003_D2000v0070_relnote.htm#v10937741

  • Open a command prompt (Windows) or a terminal window (UNIX), and navigate to the directory containing the firmware file to load.

    1. Enter ftp <controller-network-address> For example: ftp 10.1.0.9

    2. Log in as an FTP user (user = ftp, password = flash).

    3. Enter put <firmware-file> encl:<channel-ID>:<EMP-number> flash
For example: put CAMSPR0070_6G_app_4MB_ai.pmc. encl:1:31 flash

  • If needed, repeat these steps to load the firmware on additional modules.

The file CAMSPR0149_6G_app_4MB_ai.pmc from the windows bundle version 0149 is the file to use.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
