P2000G3 - does not recognize new disk ST3600057SS
Hello,
My P2000G3 FC / iSCSI failed one disk ST3600057SS, HP label.
I have now in hand a new disk ST3600057SS no hp. When it is inserted it is not recognized by the GUI. The same problem occurred a few weeks ago with one piece exactly the same, so we requested a second disk, but the problem is the same, do not recognize the part.
Can this be firmware update failure? or a lock that does not allow some types of disks?
Thank you for your support!
Hugs

Re: P2000G3 - does not recognize new disk ST3600057SS
I see drive model ST3600057SS supported with P2000 so there shouldn't be any issue.
How you got the new drive? did you purchased seperately or you got from HPE as replacement drive?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Subhajit

Re: P2000G3 - does not recognize new disk ST3600057SS
SUBHAJIT
We purchased the disk separately, one part of the ST3600057SS, but without the HP label. I guess it's the same product, but without going through HP, right?
Could it be a problem with the current firmware that does not understand the disk? perhaps because it is of latest manufacture ....
Let me know if I post photos or logs if necessary.
Thank you
Hugs

Re: P2000G3 - does not recognize new disk ST3600057SS
Hello,
If you did not purchase the drive from HPE, then the firmware may not be the correct firmware version to be recognized by the array. If this is the case you cannot load HPE firmware onto the drive.
You need to purchase drives from HPE or a certified HPE partner.
Cheers,
Shawn

Re: P2000G3 - does not recognize new disk ST3600057SS
I agree with Shawn. Any drive without HPE firmware installed, Array will not detect it. This is the reason I asked how you got this new drive.
If you got your answer then kindly mark this forum as resolved
Hope this helps!

SUBHAJIT KHANBARMAN
Do I really need to use only HP-branded discs?
My firmware is pretty old. Is there any documentation that guides you in updating the firmware?

Re: P2000G3 - does not recognize new disk ST3600057SS
Yes you should use HPE disks only
Please follow SMU guide (Page no 85) to get the Disk firmware update procedure,
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02520791
You can also download the firmware and refer Installation Instruction tab to get the procedure,
Hope this helps!
