Q: How to start a BusinessCopy job from another server

I have BusinessCopy EVA installed on management appliance, and set up a job to snap a volume from a file server, and mount it on the backup server.

How can I get the pre-backup job to run a BusinesssCopy job?

if I understand you correctly you want to start a predefined Business Copy job on the Storage Management Appliance (SMA) from one of your servers/hosts that is attached to the EVA.


If you have not done so already you need to install the BC agent on the server. It should contain a small command-line utility named 'EVMCL'.

Enterprise Volume Manager (EVM) was the old product name of the part that is running on the SMA - it used to be a separately licensed product (V1 did not even run on the SMA). It is now bundled together with the EVA 'snapshot' license to sell as 'Business Copy EVA'.

Before you waste your time: as far as I can tell there is no documentation about EVMCL in the .PDF files. You need to check the online help of the BC GUI on the SMA.
