You haven't mentioned MSA model.
I am showing you details from MSA 2040 best practices whitepaper where it says RAID10 expansion possible with 2 or 4 drives at a time.

SolutionAs Subhajit mentioned you can expand a RAID10 linear disk group. However, in the MSA2050 only virtual disk groups are supported. With a virtual disk group you cannot use the expansion feature.
Please refer to the HPE MSA 1050/2050 SMU Reference Guide: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00017707en_us (page 90, topic Virtual disk groups).
