Red Hat w/EVA4400 and EVA8000 LUNs

Hi

I ‘m presenting 2 LUNS from an EVA4400 and EVA8000 SAN to a RHEL 5.3 server over dual Emulex LPe1205 HBA’s. Everything functions ok except when the system reboots and the mount points are mapped to the opposite LUNs.

As per /etc/fstab - /dev/dm-2 should mount to the ‘data’ LUN and /dev/dm-3 should mount to the ‘backup’ LUN /etc/fstab. Upon booting /dev/dm-2 is mounted to ‘backup’ and /dev/dm-3 is mounted to ‘data’.  In other words the disk mounts are reversed and the database app won’t load. However I can get around it manually by running umount and mount commands.

Furthermore, the ‘data’ LUN (dm-2) is presented as LUN2 from the EVA8000, and the ‘backup’ LUN (dm-3) is presented as LUN1 from the EVA4400.

I’m thinking that the OS is getting confused with LUN id’s or something like that such as the OS unit ID. Do I need to offset OS unit ID’s between the two LUNs to resolve this issue?

Thanks,

Brian
