Replacement of MSA P2000 G3 Hp storage HDD
Dear
I am facing a 2 SATA HDD failure out of 24 HDD (RAID 5 configured). No spare disks is currently configerd ( NO dedicated, No global or dynamic).
will a reconstruction can be done by only pull out the faulty disk and put the new disk? or a configuration need to be done to make the new disks readable again ?

Re: Replacement of MSA P2000 G3 Hp storage HDD
Need more details,
>> how many vdisks present in your system?
>> each vdisk made with how many drives ?
>> any of the vdisk shows as Offline or QTOF?
I am assuming if you have single vdisk made with 24 drives in RAID5 and now if two drives failed then this vdisk must be in Offline or QTOF state which is nothing but down situation for you.
If you have multiple RAID5 vdisk where only single drive failed but you don't have any spare drive configured then after insert of new disk you need to configure the same new drive as dedicated spare/Global spare.
Hope this helps!

Re: Replacement of MSA P2000 G3 Hp storage HDD
Can you please share the SMU screenshot of the error because as per the reply it sounds like you have mixed with you Vdisk and disks.
You must be having 1 vdisk made with 24 drives where 2 drives failed and vdisk now shows as offline.
Technically in RAID5 if two drives failed then there is no possibility of recovering the data.
However you can log a support case with HPE and they will try to recover the same. Otherwise you can contact me in private message with P2000 logs (not here in public forum) and I will try to recover as well.
Hope this helps!
