SAN(FC) Storage does not work with VmWare

Hi,

I'm having trouble with SAN Switch and VMware. The situation is as follows. I have 2x HP MSA SAN Switch 32port, 2x servers, 2 SANs storage (IBM, HP). Both servers see both storages. It's okay. Now, I want to add additional third server, but this one cannot see the storage. I think that zoning in the switch I set properly, but it does not work. Topology is placed in the attachment. According to the diagram, I think that second switch is used as a backup if first stops working. Both switches are set to the same (except WWN of course), the same aliases, same zoning. Aliases are set far more than are actually connected devices (many servers in the server room are not already there). Just 3. So I deleted on one switch settings (aliases, zoning ...) and set new, but it does not work. Added third server sees only HP Fibre Channel RAID array controller. But no HP/IBM storage. And it is interesting that when I deleted one switch, so the two servers still see storage at both FCs, while I think that one side should disappear. Screens from Vmware are in attachments.
Thanks for help

Not sure what this really is.

I assume you have a MSA, what model?

You probably need to adjust LUN presentation in the MSA to allow access for the 3rd server.

Hope this helps!

Re: SAN(FC) Storage does not work with VmWare

Wow, a MSA1000!

Run ACU and check selective storage presentation.

Re: SAN(FC) Storage does not work with VmWare

It is a utility for download? I do not have nothing like that installed. And, I do not have any login and password for management this storage, just IP address. Previous administrator did not leave these dates(login, password), It can be reset, without loosing settings?

Re: SAN(FC) Storage does not work with VmWare

google this:

hp storageworks modular smart array 1000 user guide

The device is sooo old, not sure if all the tools are still available.

In fact you need a server that runs ACU (array config utility) in order to check and adjust the presentation settings.

No password needed.

The IP you refer to is for the switch itself, not for the array.

In fact you do a mapping with SSP - what server can access which LUN.

Re: SAN(FC) Storage does not work with VmWare

By the way, the last chapter in this guide is telling you how to manage SSP over the CLI - serial connection to the controller.

Hope this helps!

Re: SAN(FC) Storage does not work with VmWare

So, I discovered in server room one server, from which I did not have a administrator password.  After resseting windows password and loggin, SURPRISE, all utilities are installed on this server. MSA its connected via COM cable with this server too. Here its screen from ACU, its little diferent like picture from you, but the base its I hope the same. The question, whats next. :/
