SAN LUN MSA 2040

We have one Linux server connected to SAN LUN contains important data , after this server failure we can map to the LUN from new server but  we can't access the LUN until we format it .

How can we access the LUN from New linux server without format

Please help us by sending this request to your HP partner

@eng_adel273

It's actually pure Linux query.

There are couple of thing missing like

>> Linux version of old and new system

>> Did you tried to scan Storage LUN ? some commands like pvscan or vgscan or lvscan

>> multi-path was configured or not? you may need to restart multi-path service

Check with Operating System expert to get this fixed. This is not Storage issue. Your data is safe in Storage LUN.

Hope this helps!

Re: SAN LUN MSA 2040

Hi,

If you have existing VG and logical volumes on the lun then you should try vgimport followed by vgchange.
It will import and activate the the volume group.
Then mount the filesystems and check it should be discovered.

You might still need to fsck file systems since they are not unmounted.

Note: if you do vgimport without a map file (i.e without performing vgexport from source), then all your logical volume name will change to defaults (lvol1, lvol2,.. etc).

Hope this help!
