SAN Switch Storageworks 2/8 EL non responsive on Serial port
Hi guys,
I just found 2 spare SAN Switches Storageworks 2/8 EL in our lab, and I wanted to use it but need to change its IP address first.
However, I tried to connect through the serial port and none of them seem to respond. I used two differnet methods:
- using an old VT100 console sitting next to the switch, that we use to administer some HPUX box
- using PuTTy as an hyperterminal through another serial cable
Are there some special things I need to consider to finally access the management console ?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Xavier

Re: SAN Switch Storageworks 2/8 EL non responsive on Serial port
Hi
Usually if you have the original cable it's best you have to connect with
Bits per second: 9600
■ Databits: 8
■ Parity: None
■ Stop bits: 1
■ Flow control: None
also I have found pins layout of connector
2 Tx data
3 Rx Data
5 Ground
7 CTS
it's all in the installation guide

Good Luck
