SAS Mapping MSA 2040 do not appear on VMWare 6.0

Hello,

after adding 8 disks to an MSA 2040 storage, and configured the mapping the new volumes do not appear on VMWare to create the datastores.

The storage is connected to vmware hosts via SAS cables.

Controller A from storage to each hba from the 2 hosts.

I already have 2 disk groups presented to the 2 vmware hosts, from initial config.

This is an upgrade of disks, and i think the config from storage is correct so I'm not understanding why the targets aren't showing up.

Is any way that I can view logs of the scan of new maps?

Can anybody help me?

Re: SAS Mapping MSA 2040 do not appear on VMWare 6.0

Hi,

As per HPE SPOCK, VMWare 6.0 is supported in direct connect mode with MSA 2040.

Is this is a new installation, were any volumes from the MSA already presented to the VMware host ?

Also as per SPOCK

"HP MSA 2040 SAS controller requires a mini-SAS HD connector for host connections. Validate your HBA or Switch connector to purchase the correct cable separately."

What message does the VMWare Storage rescan indicate ? Does it throw any errors ?

Best Regards,

Raj
