San switch and DAF
Hi all!
I will receive these items:
- HP DL160G6 E5506 1P 4GB Entry EU Svr
- HP 8/8 (8)-ports Enabled SAN Switch AM867A
- HP StorageWorks MSL2024 1 LTO-5 Ultrium 3000 (BL542A)
- 2 LC/LC optic wires
Im almost sure that i can connect the server and the library directly without the switch.
two questions:
┬┐Can i use the LC/LC wire or need a "cross" wire?
┬┐Can i use the san switch as a tcp/ip network switch to connect our lan to the next building lan?
Thx in advance!!!

Re: San switch and DAF
1) Yes you can connect server and library directly. If your DL160G6 has a FC HBA installed. There are no 'cross-wires' when it comes to fibre optics. You may need SFPs but probably not when direct connecting these two devices.
2) No, the 8/8 is a Brocade SAN switch that only does Fibre Channel.
