Setup a diskarray
I have a problem with the HP StorageWorks P2000 G3 MSA FC.
The diskarray is connected with FC to a HP StorageWorks SAN Switch / Brocade 200E.
The diskarray has one vdisk and RAID 6.
Finally the diskarray should be mount on a HP ProLiant DL580 G5 Server with Ubuntu.
My problem is:
I have setup the diskarray with the wizard and set all Host Ports to auto.
The Switch shows all port as F-Ports.
And the Switch dont allow to create a zone other this ports.
Then I tried to set all Host Ports to loop.
The Switch shows one port as F-Port and the other as L-Port.
But the Switch dont allow to create the zone, too.
P.S. This thread has been moevd from General to Storage Area Networks (SAN) (Small and Medium Business). - Hp Forum Moderator

Re: Setup a diskarray
Exactly.
If you can see "ONLINE F_Port WWN" on the ports where the p2000 and the server connects, you do not need to change to loop mode etc. Loop mode you'd use if you connect the server directly to the P2000 (in which case you'd have to change it on the server hba too).
What are you trying to do and how?

Re: Setup a diskarray
Thanks,
now I have all the ports changed to loop.
But I cant set a zone in the FC switch for this diskarray.
If I want to connect the HBA-Port and the Loop-Ports of the diskarray in one zone in the FC switch,
the switch is ignoring this.
Setting of the HP StorageWorks SAN Switch / Brocade 200E:
1. I login to the Administration of the Switch
2. I edit the zones
3. I set the zones for the diskarry in the Wizard like this:
4. I save the changes of the wizard
5. There comes a MessageBox with "Zone changes successful"
6. The Switch shows the following zones:
So the switch has reset all my settings of the HBA-Port 4.
Without give any error message or something else.

Re: Setup a diskarray
Set the ports back to fabric mode - loop doesn't make sense.
Telnet to the switch and do
> switchshow
> zoneshow
and post.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
