Shutting Down a HP MSA2312i

Hi all,

Moving office and need to shutdown our HP MSA2312i

After all devices connected to the MSA are shutdown is it as simple as going

1. Tools -> Shutdown or restart controllers

2. Select Operation:shutdown, Controller type: Storage,Controller:both click shutdown now (see attachment)

Will this actually power off the MSA as I can't see a power button?

Thanks

Hey!

Did you look at the back of the enclosure for a power switch?
I believe there is a power switch there.

This link to "MSA2000 installation" should explain it (ok it's for the MSA2000 G1)

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=115&prodSeriesId=3758996&prodTypeId=12169&objectID=c01600461

and it's close to the bottom of the page.

Thanks for the reply

I read that document but there are no physical switches on our power supplies. For example i dont have (6) in the picture attached. I have everything else.

Make sure you do not mix up the MSA2000 controller and extra disk enclosures (in case you have that).
Some extra disk enclosures do not have a power switch, but the 2312i controllers do/should have.

If it doesn't have one, you'll have to pull the cable after it's been shut down from the GUI.
