Virtual Disk partition goes offline

I have 2 proliant servers with win2k3 conected to a SAN with optic fibre. They are presented to a virtual disk on the SAN. They both see the data on it. The problem is that when one of the servers access the disk and makes changes to a file, the disk goes offline on the other and I have to reactivate it manually.

1.-Why this is happening?
2.-How do I can prevet it?
3.-Is there a workarround?

Thanks

Re: Virtual Disk partition goes offline

1. It is happening because you have set up an invalid configuration!

A plain Windows server does not know how to share a file system accessed at block level with another Windows server. Each server 'believes' it has exclusive access to the data and acts accordingly. The result is a corruped disk as soon as the second server mounts to volume.

2. Prevent the second server from accessing the volume when using plain Windows OS.

3. If you want true read/write shared access to the same volume, you do need extra software like HP's "PolyServe" product:
