Which is the correct way to connect MSA2040 sas to HBA H421
Hi
I bought a MSA 2040 sas with 2 sas controllers (C8S53A), DL380 G9 whit 2 hba h241, autoloader and 3 sas cables, miniSas hd to minisas for the autoloader (Part NO: 716191-B21), and the others two cables are minisas hd to minisas hd for the msa to server (Part NO: 716195-B21)
In theory always is compatible and should be works
The autoloader works fine with her cable, but the msa connected to the server doesn't work with minisas hd cables, only works if I connect it using minisas hd to miniSas cable, I have tried all combinations with the 2 minisas HD cables but no one works
Please help!

Re: Which is the correct way to connect MSA2040 sas to HBA H421
Hi,
The connection of the MSA to the server should be done only via mini-SAS cable and not minisas hd ,also precaution has to be maintained while selecting the cable with the initiators o compatible speed i.e 6 GBps or 12 GBps.

Re: Which is the correct way to connect MSA2040 sas to HBA H421
One information only missing from your question and that one -> what is the speed of the SAS host port that you used in MSA SAS controller to connect to SAS HBA H241
If you are using 6GB/s mini SAS HD port then you need to use below cables,
Mini-SAS HD to Mini-SAS Cables
1.0m 716189-B21
2.0m 716191-B21
4.0m 716193-B21
if you are using 12Gb/s mini SAS HD port then you need to use below cables,
Mini-SAS HD to Mini-SAS HD Cables
1.0m 716195-B21
2.0m 716197-B21
4.0m 716199-B21
Now if the above things are correct then consider the below customer advisory which may help,

Hope this helps!
