how to do when a disk fails in MSA P2000

Hi all,

I have a HP MSA P2000, and today one disk has failed, and one of the global spares has replace it, becoming in part of the vdisk and rebuilding de data. I have 5 global spares (now 4).

What is the best way to follow now? Can I move the rebuilded disk to the bay of the failed disk? or maybe is not recommended to move disks between bays? My intention is to replace the failed disk by a new one, and put all disks of the same vdisk together in the enclosure, and also the global spares, but I don´t know if it´s a good practice.

Thanks in advance

the spare becomes part of the raid, the replacement disk becomes the new spare, that is the default.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Ok, Thank you. Last question: is a good idea to move one disk that is part of a RAID to another bay?
