use of a usb switch

Hi,
we have the following problem:
Two computers should use one printer HP LaserJet P2015. There ist no network, so I will use an USB switch.
One computer can print, but very slowly. The second computer give an error: "USB Gerät wurde nicht erkannt".
The same construction (the same computers, the same cables), but with the printer HP Color LaserJet 2500 is working.

If this is a 'simple' USB switch, then this is an invalid configuration, I am afraid.

A computer is a 'master device' on the USB and the USB architecture allows only one master. The fact that it works on a different configuration is 'pure luck' and not by design.

Maybe you can tell us what type of 'USB switch' you are using to find out if it really is a 'dumb switch' or a more intelligent multiplexer device.
