MAILX: rejected for policy reasons

I am getting the subject message in mailx.
I can ping the mailx server but it returns the message, rejected for policy reasons.
I have not changed anything on this server and the user tells me that it worked fine yesterday--I know that sounds familiar, but...
Any/all help greatly appreciated and points gratefully given.

This could be of various reasons.

Are you using your smtp server for internal mails or also for external mails.
Probably you are trying to send a mail to yahoo.com and your smtp server does not allow it.

ALso it could be that the blockage is that the smtp server or at the firewall.

You can configure to reject mail relaying using smtp server for a particular host or a network.

YOu can do the same also using a firewall.

Also this could be for
your mail size exceeding limits,or any such restriction

What are the extra messages you are getting in the reject return mail.

I was trying to connect through two Notes (NT) servers; the problem was solved when the Notes Group told me they had changed "something" on the Notes side. When they changed the "something" back all was well.
