Version of Sendmail

My system information is as follows :

HP-UX server1 B.11.11 U 9000/800 3255374988 unlimited-user license

a. How can I find out what version of sendmail is being used.

b. What is the latest patched version of sendmail.

To obtain your 'sendmail' version (one way), do:

# sendmail -d0.1

sendmail -bs

Two version will be displayed and its important to have both the same. The first is the sendmail version for the compiled program while the second reflects the version of the 'sendmail.cf' file.

Many times users forget to copy in the new sendmail.cf file from:

/usr/newconfig/etc/mail/sendmail.cf

When you install a new version on the /usr/newconfig file is changed. This is because specifics unique to your system will be in the /etc/mail/sendmail.cf file.

So copy /etc/mail/sendmail.cf then copy in the new /usr/newconfig file and use the old as a reference with the new. Your mail relay server for example, 'DM'.
