I have made changes to the sendmail.cf to look as the one currently working:
Any help is appreciated.
This is the output when I use sendmail -v:
juan_mesa@fpl.com... Connecting to fpl.com. via esmtp...
and it just hangs.
Thank you

Re: configuring sendmail to send email to a Lotus notus relay server
Should set the smart relay:
DSlotusnotes
I would also set DM macro:
DMyourdomain.com

Re: configuring sendmail to send email to a Lotus notus relay server
You need make reference to your smtp engine mail server (Relay Server). So, you need define in /etc/mail/sendmail.cf the DS variable with a reachable Realy Serner name, in your case:
DS
To ensure that
Then you need restart sendmail service:
/sbin/init.d/sendmail stop
/sbin/init.d/sendmail start
Also ensure that your resolution path defined in /etc/nsswitch.conf is appropriate.
You can test sendmail service by a simple command:
#echo "Test"|sendmail -v juan_mesa@fpl.com
Rgds.

Re: configuring sendmail to send email to a Lotus notus relay server
DSloutsnotes.mydomain.com.
DMmydomain.com
I did found a posting from Herlene Beren that indicates to enclose you DS definiton in brackets:
DS[lotusnotes.mydoamin.com]
this resolved my issue.
Thank you
Juan

Re: configuring sendmail to send email to a Lotus notus relay server
Thanks for your input.
Yes, I did referenced the smtp relay server my using the DS definiton. I found out that
I had to enclose it in brackets and make sure the the FQDM is define in the local /etc/hosts.
Is working now. Thanks
Juan

Re: configuring sendmail to send email to a Lotus notus relay server
2) If the Lotus server doesn't explicitly authorize relay mail will never get off the hp box
Diagnostic tools:
mailq
shows the queuue of outbound mail that has not gotten off the hp box
sendmail -v -q
a verbose, interactive way of processing a maile queue that will help you figure out where the problem is.
sendmail -v -d8.99 -d38.99 someone@lotusserver.net
type some text
.
Great diagnostic helps you find problems with everything from DNS to relay issues.
Good Luck,
Have a good weekend.
