Re: having problems configuring mailx on hp/ux server
Are you *shure* that your smtp service are running on maismsg002.guww.net (10.114.5.39)?
Please attach the files:
/etc/resolv.conf
/etc/nsswitch.conf

Re: having problems configuring mailx on hp/ux server
I think we have a good idea now. There is no 'resolv.conf file on dubhptst rather weirdly. There is one on dubhp01 and it has the following so I guess I can create a file on the dubhptst server that the issue is on and include the following ?
dubhp01:mail # more /etc/resolv.conf
domain diageo.net
nameserver 10.4.70.15
nameserver 10.4.31.15
resolv.conf: END
